I am a Youth Development Coach, Safety and Medical officer, Club Mentor. I have spent roughly 19 years with Newtown FC.
I got into coaching through my son who played from U6 to U16. I wanted to give children the chance to participate in a sport regardless of skill or ability where development was key and results were secondary.
I have been coaching for 8 years now and got into coaching like many other coaches to run my sons football team at U8s.
Now we are embarking on another chapter for the Club and helping Stacey Preece with the setting up of a girls football team which we have every confidence will be a great success.
I have been coaching at Newtown Sports Junior Football club since 2006. I started off coaching my own team for quite a few years. After that I felt I still had something to offer a great community club so I started helping out Wayne at SMC.
I’m so glad I did as it is so rewarding watching the boys and girls kicking a ball around with a smile on their face and that look on the faces when they manage to pass the ball accurately to a team mate for the first time or when they score that first goal
Newtown Sports Junior Football Club has been around for nearly 30 years and is Malvern’s biggest charter standard community club. Our programs are designed to support kids in learning to love the sport of football and to develop a positive self esteem along with a basis for future success in football and in life
